In recent years with the emergence of the Me Too movement, this famous image has become the topic of very controversial debate. Is it romantic or is it assault? Explain your opinion.
Its a really famous photo, and its from the 40's. The 40's were a different time, and back then this would have been fine. If something like that happened today, cause im pretty sure they were strangers, it would be a big issue, but for 1945, it was more easily accepted
ReplyDeleteI think it's romantic because he kissed her in the middle of the street, and as you can see in the background there are people there standing and smiling. So I wouldn't say it's an assault.
ReplyDeleteAt first sight you may think it's assault, The way her body is positioned it may look like assault to some but judging from the crowds reaction, I think of it as Romantic.
ReplyDeleteI consider it romantic because this picture was taken after they got the notice of the war being over, so of course everyone is going to be filled with happiness, so in conclusion I feel it was just a feeling in the moment.

ReplyDeleteToday this picture would represent assault,due to fact of the history behind the photograph. It was a different time back then, so others wouldn't consider this as assault, but romantic. But in my opinion its assault because the woman doesn't seem to be comfortable.
ReplyDeleteIn the picture i see a man and a woman kissing in the middle of the street in front of a crowd of people who are looking at them and smiling at the fact that they look so happy, also it looks like their in the city. In my opinion this image makes me feel like the kiss was forced but because it was a different time when the picture was taken it was easily accepted and people thought it was romantic, and if you look in the background you can see the crowd of people not bothered by this because their smiling and laughing so clearly they didn't think it was bad.
ReplyDeleteI see the photo as romantic because it was a spur of the moment type of thing. In the moment everyone's adrenaline was probably running high and there was no time to think. Also, because of the time period, we know that it wasn't considered a big issue as it would be today because of how our society has worsened.
ReplyDeleteI believe this picture is romantic because even though they do not know each other, she is still allowing him to kiss her. If she didn't feel comfortable she would have pushed him away. She is still kissing him so she clearly is okay with it.

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion it seems to look romantic the image was took in back in the days where the war world two has been stopped in that specific time everyone was happy but, now in this generation would be viewed as assault since what happens now in days.

ReplyDeleteIn this photo it looked as if the girl was pulled or forced into something as in the way she was positioned in the photo. It looked like the man pulled her in by surprise and kissed her.
